TeslaBatteryBLE

An Android app that talks to a Tesla over Bluetooth LE: battery state, charge state, and a local history. Pair it with your car — the keys stay safely on your phone. No dongle or extra hardware — just your smartphone. Works alongside the official Tesla app.

Install

TeslaBatteryBLE is in beta. Every release so far is a pre-release, cut from main.

GitHub Releases (APK prerelease)

  1. Open the releases page and pick the newest release.
  2. Download the APK attached to the release.
  3. Open the APK on your Android device and allow installation from the browser or file manager.

Pre-release APKs are release builds, signed with the same key as stable releases and sharing their app ID, so a later release installs over a pre-release in place.

Obtainium (auto-updates)

  1. Open Obtainium and tap Add App.
  2. Enter https://github.com/opencartools/TeslaBatteryBLE.
  3. Obtainium tracks stable releases by default; enable Include prereleases to get the pre-release builds.
  4. Install and let Obtainium keep it updated.

Open in Obtainium

On your phone the button pre-fills the app URL; still enable Include prereleases after import. Without Obtainium installed, the link offers to get it.

No stable release has shipped yet, so pre-releases are currently the only channel.

Getting started

  1. Grant necessary permissions as explained in the app (Bluetooth and location permissions - reqiored for BLE scans).
  2. Scan for cars and and look for your car name. You will be able to check basics status of the car (awake, locked, user present)
  3. To pair with the car, you will need your Tesla NFC key card on hand. Press pair button on your selected car in the app.
  4. When the app says it is waiting, hold the NFC key card on the center console until the car prompts, then confirm on the car touchscreen.
  5. Done: the card reads App key paired. You can rename the new Phone Key in Controls > Locks on the car screen.

The key has a permission to read car ble api and control charging, but it cannot unlock or drive the car.

Privacy

The app has no internet permission; it only talks to the car over Bluetooth, and keys and history stay on the device. The full privacy statement is in the repository.
